In my upstairs shower stall the drain was leaking down on the den ceiling. The drain assembly was glued in and I had to bust it up with hammer and screwdriver to remove it so I could replace it usinf the proper gasket, sealant etc. Unfortunately, the threads on the pvc locking nut under the shower floor got "buggered" in the process and now that needs to be replaced or I cannot install the new drain. Is there any way to replace the under floor locknut w/o removing the shower stall or the ceiling below it?

Hi Brad
If I understand you here, then yes, they make a shower strainer assembly called the WING-TITE that can be installed from above the floor with no need to open the ceiling below!
You may need to purchase an inside pipe cutting tool (see image) to cut the pipe from below and install a new coupling and the new drain... may not, too??
Check it out by clicking on this link here:

Let me know if that fixes you up, OK?
