16 is the age of consent in the Uk My daughter is 12 and I would under no circustances at all allow my daughter to date a 16 year old boy and if any sexual contact had to take place I would be ringing the police!! And that would apply if I had a 12 year old boy date someone your own age experience a bit of puppy love If I was your Mum id be telling her to keep clear of you and be advising her parents the same!! Being 16 any contact with you being the police could be involved you are a child stay a child

Dating isn't illegal, if your parents consent to you dating. But, your parents have to allow this. If they say no, and you date her anyway, then she's in very big legal trouble.

What could a 12 year old possibly have in common with a 16 year old?

There's tremendous peer pressure in your teens to act more or less within some teen idea of what is normal, even if sort of weird, but it has to be 'acceptable weird.' I wouldn't imagine that most 16 year old girls would feel comfortable 'dating' a 12 year old. Hanging out, maybe, in big enough groups.
