Mine has a straight silver metal pipe out of the wall then the angle valve. I've watched videos that had some type of locking? Nut before the angle valve. Mine didn't have that so when I replaced the valve I didn't add one... do I need to because its still dripping?

Sorry about puttin it in the wrong spot first of all... well yes and no...

The water supply line isn't copper it's a silver metal... lead? It isn't as old as the house but I'm sure it's a good 15-20 yrs old

The valve looks like that except wsl had threads and there wasn't a nut before the valve . The guy at the store suggested that I don't need a [compression] nut there... but its drippy right where the valve and pipe meet.

Is it dripping at the pipe/valve connection, or at the toilet flex supply? Need to look real close to make sure exactly where the leak is coming from. If at the pipe/valve threads, remove the valve one more time, put a few more wraps of teflon on than you did before (even five or six won't hurt a thing) and retighten. Or you could simply try tightening the valve one more complete turn and that should seal it up. Make sure to use a back up wrench on the pipe while tightening the valve. One more thing. It looks like you used teflon on the flex connector. That's a no no, so make sure it isn't leaking from there. Was it a new flex connector also, or did you reuse the old one? If you reused the old one, I would suggest replacing it with a new one, as many times once the old one is unhooked, the rubber seal is so chewed up it won't seal up again. Let us know what you find.
