My dad (a former Marine, natch) had this book. I think it was actually two
Volumes; could even have been three, but I don't think so. Light brown
Binding. Short stories/vignettes about a group of Marines in north (?)
China; there could have been some non-fiction mixed in as well. I'm
Pretty sure it was post-WWI. There was a Gunny who was a recurring
Character and a hapless grunt as well.

It may have been a privately bound book with a limited run. I checked WorldCat with no results. I did find these (Marine Vignettes is a series of short stories by or about Marines, Navy Corpsmen, etc. Stories may be submitted regarding your experiences of pre-WWII/WWII/Korean War-Era/Cold War, etc. Gunny Gaines appears now and then.) --

Thank you, Wondergirl. That is definitely a possibility I had not considered. Could have been a First Marine Division thing. I've tossed a lot of queries out there. Maybe another Marine will come across one, Appreciate your help.
