I Have a midemeanor assault in Ohio. I received my RN license in 2008. I worked for a nursing home, home health and recently I was laid off from a correctional nursing job. I am having a difficult time getting a job in hospitals and nursing homes. Is there a law in Ohio that restricts these places to hire me? I forgot to say that my misdemeanor assault is sealed but in Ohio House Bill 160 lets certain employers look in sealed records. Is there any thing that I can do? Could I get a license in another state to find work? PLEASE HELP!!

While yes you can get a job, a felony would have stopped it. The issue is of course finding a place that will hire you, for one job opening there could be dozens of people, most with no criminal record at all.
