My daughter is 5 years old & has my last name. Her father is not on her birth certificate. I am getting married in a few months. We, myself, my daughter & my fiancˇ, would like for her to have his last name. My questiins are as follows: Can I legally change her last name? 2, will this effect her child support? Thanks

You generally need the biological father's permission to change the child's name.

A name change will not affect child support.

Are you receiving child support from the biological father?

You can change her last name as long as the bio father agrees and signs to allow it. A name change will not effect child support.
