I am 53 years old and having had three children, had a Mirena coil nine years ago, without problem. However, when my GP realised how long I had had it, she recommended its removal. After several attempts (both by the GP and the Specialist, who attempted to remove it in October 2011 at the hospital but couldn't find it), I finally had it removed under anaesthetic on January 17th this year which was a straightforward operation. Since October, when the first attempt to remove it occurred, I have had a fairly constant discharge - not blood, but a white/clear slightly sticky consistency. I now have to wear a Tampon at all times since October because of this. I am not having any periods. I have had tests and there is no infection, no cysts and my cervix looks very healthy. So what can be going on? I cannot find anyone else with these symptoms. My GP says it may be connected to the change in hormonal conditions and could be a type of accelerated ovulation discharge and that it may settle down, but there is nothing more to be done. Could this be the case? What else can I do? I am not in any pain by the way, and am in general good health and not taking any other medication. I would really like to know why this has happened and if anyone else has experienced it. Any suggestions?
