What can I do for my dog? He is 15 months old, and just last week he saw his best bud get hit by a transport. Obviously the other dog was killed, and ever since has been really depressed. I know he is missing the other dog, but what can I do to get him out of this slump?
Thanking you all in advance

Try giving him walks and lots of other attention. It may take a while. I am very sorry to hear about the other dog.

Yes, I agree with labman. He needs some special attention now. If you can try to adjust your schedule, you need to spend more time with him. Play with him, practice his training with him, and exercise him as much as possible. If he likes to go for rides, take a trip to the local pet store, a park, or visit a friend or relative that he enjoys getting attention from. At night, if you are relaxing watching TV or reading, sit with him and pet him, cuddle with him.

In turn, the extra attention you give him, may help you with the loss of the other dog. Your emotions flow right to your dog.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog! I'm sure your little guy is upset. Labman and ruby are definitely right about lavishing attention on the other dog, especially being so young. Also if he used to sleep with the other dog try giving him a teddy bear about the same size as him and be sure to remove the buttons and hard bits that he might choke on. This might give him a tangible buddy.

You didn't say what kind of a dog it is. It would be dangerous to give many dogs a stuffed toy. A 15 month old Lab might chew it up and choke on the shreds.
