I've been receiving SSDI since 2004. I gave birth to a daughter on March 2006. When me and my husband went to apply for our daughter's social security number we asked the clerk if she qualifies for any benefits back in 2006. The clerk said, that she doesn't because at that time they have not been accepting any new applications for benefits. Yesterday, we went to social security office regarding a completely different matter and the officer was shocked that we haven't been receiving any benefits for her yet, because she totally qualifies for them. The officer scheduled an appointment for this Friday and said that we can only claim her benefits for 1 last year. Can anybody answer me, if I can possibly receive her benefits for the whole 6 years of her life?. thru appeals... procedures... do I need a lawyer for that?
