Weight loss involves wise food choices and eliminating the bad food choices. Eating healthy means adding fresh fruit and vegetables to your diet, lean meats (grilled or broiled, not fried, not breaded), drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, adding natural fiber to your diet, etc. Getting physical activity - walking, jogging, swimming, tread mill, there are many things you can do.

Eliminating the bad food choices - if you were to go into your kitchen and open up the cupboards and refrigerator, what would you see? Purging your kitchen of high fat foods, sweets, junk foods, etc. is a good start. Nothing wrong with having a snack - but make it a healthy choice - a piece of fruit is one example.

There are so many websites out there that are oriented towards weight loss. I personally have been using the new slim fast program called "zip your hunger" and that is a free online program. I do not want to lose the weight fast - have been there and done that and the weight comes back. So far, in two months, I have lost 10 lbs. I realize not everyone would be happy with that, but I am. My doctor is too.

Speaking of doctors, always consult your doctor before trying any weight loss program. He or she can be the best advisor. He or she knows your health and can steer you away from programs that may be harmful. I hope you do not fall for the weight loss gimmicks as seen on TV.

There are cooking websites - so many of them - that have menu plans that you can adjust for calories. You just have to look and find one that you can work with. If you do not like to cook there are frozen meals like Lean Cuisins and Weight Watchers and Healthy Choice.

I know it is a tough thing to lose weight, wishing you the very best of success.

The average maintnenance level for women is 2000-2100 calories per day for men its 2700-2900 calories, this is considered your "maintnance level". In order to lose weight you need to reduce your maintenance level. A quick method to determine calorie needs is to use your current weight times a mulitplier: Fat loss=13 calories per lb of body weight. If your eating more calories then your expending, you won't lose weight no matter what kinds of foods you eat. There's @ 3500 calories in one pound of stored body fat, if you create a 3500 calorie deficit in a week through diet and exercise you will lose one pound. The common guideline for fat loss is to reduce your calories by at least 500 but not more than 1000 below your normal maintnance level. Watch your intakes of white flour products, try using wheat substitutes, like wheat breads, pastas, rice. Cut down on sugar consumption, like colas, cut them out, they contain high fructose corn syrup and this causes weight gain. Drink lots of water. Broil or bake your lean meats, like chicken, without the skin, turkey, fish, chose lean cuts of meat, and cut off excess fats. When baking or cooking use olive oil or canola oil instead of butter, lards, margarine, fatty oils, use cooking sprays. Choose natural, low fat, low sugar, low calorie foods in smaller servings, With dairy products, again choose low fat milk products, cheese low in sodium and fat. When eating eggs just use egg whites. Go through you cabinets and get rid of all your "favorites", If you're a ice cream lover try frozen yogurt. Try working out aerobically and use weights train your entire body, walk, run jog, bike but move, work out 30-60 minutes per session 3-4 x per week. Eat lots of veggies and fruits, cut out high fat high sugar snacks, dounuts, chips, candy bars and stay away from fast food, fried foods! If you just keep on track, 10 lbs shouldn't be that hard to lose, you can do it.
The best advice I have is to really read all nutritional label, know what's in what your eating and go by the 1 serving advice.;)
