Can a repo person leave a detailed message in your front door telling you he was there to repo your vehicle? This happened to my neighbor when he wasn't home. The note told him (First and Last name) I was here to repo your 97 Chevy Lumina for the (bank's name) Payment is needed immediately or surrender the vehicle. He then left the bank's number and his number. My neighbor said the note was folded and wedged in the front door. Can this legally be done? This poor guy just lost his terminally ill wife and had to quit his job (he was a truck driver) to take care of her. He's a wonderful guy and until his wife got sick he had NO problems with anything. Any input would be nice. I told him I would do what I could to give him an answer.

If the guy taped the notice to the door so anyone could see it, that would have been going too far. But folding it and wedging it the door doesn't seem out of line.

P.S. I agree with Chuck. This seems to be a rather nice repo person. Most wouldn't give any warning.

Of course normally they would just come back and take the car and he would wake up with his car gone.

This is actually being a lot nicer than most are.
