Today I was stopped by police (van) while I was driving my van.
They pulled me over and said that I failed to stop at a red light and I was doing 50 in a 30mph speed limit zone.
They traffic light I went through has just turned to amber and I was turning left, because I was in the van I had to slow right down and turn slowly so I think in that time my light turned red and there side green.
The speed limit story they added extra 10mph to the speed I was doing.
I'm not going to lie I was doing 40-42mph on my speedo which means satellite speed should be 36-38mph

One officer looked at my license and gave it back and said that I just earned a court date, while the second was looking in the van by passenger side.

I didn't see them writing any details down and I left as they told me to.

Did they let me off with a warning or will I get into serious trouble.

Did they hand you a ticket or citation? It's highly unusual to do nothing at the scene and then mail the citation (when it's V&T offenses) in my area.

Where?

You cannot legally turn left on an amber light UNLESS you already own the intersection - are already in the intersection, stopped and waiting. Again, this is in NY.

First a traffic ticket is not serious trouble anyway. And unless they handed you a ticket, you were not given one. Most likely they wanted to look inside your van and used the traffic stop as a reason.

Yellow light. You are not allowed to enter the intersection if the light is yellow, You are to stop if the light is yellow. Yellow is only to allow you time to get out of the intersection if you are already in it. A police officer is within their full rights to give you a ticket for the traffic light if you enter after it has turned yellow. ** Based on Georgia law**

But yes if they were going to give you a ticket they would have when you where stopped.
