I have a yardman MTD riding mower and when I put it in forward it jerks and clicks like its trying to pull, but doesn't move unless I slide it barely out of gear. It moves easily in reverse. I looked under it at the belt and the belt is really loose, but appears intact. Any ideas on what's wrong with it?

Hi,
You have provided no model, but one thing that happens is the front stay bolts come out and the transaxle pivots.Provide a model and maybe I can do better.
Peace,
Clarke

Hi,
Yo have indeed provided the correct model and I found both the parts and owners manuals. Neither has a wirng diagram, though the previous "N" version has a battery supplement. Look for a blown fuse probably somewhere under the hood and poosible on the gas tank bracket.
To get the manuals, go to:
MTD products manuals (http://manuals.mtdproducts.com/mtd/Public.do)
And enter you model in the Model space. That is the letter "O" after the A and a zero before the 55. The "G" means a 42" deck. Then for the Serial simply put a 1 They are printer-friendly pdf documents. Do not print the owners manual past page 32 as it is Spanish. When you hit Print and the menu comes up, choose Pages and enter 1 -32 in the box to get English only. Parts are only Engish. You may want to opt for pages 1, 4 -5, 9 - 19, 22 -23, and pick you engine(there are two Briggs engines and the muffler is the difference - each encompasses two pages - on picture and one part numbers.)
Peace,
Clarke

Sorry to piggyback onto this post, but I am having the same prob with my Yardman hydro. Model 136X694G401.
I don't see any fuses on mine. How does that affect the drive?

No jerking on mine, just no movement, and belt is very loose.

MLockard, did you find a solution to your problem? I'm having the same issue.
