The first day of my last period was march 2nd... and my cycle usually last about 31 days. My boyfriend went home on break for a few weeks so we hadn't had sex since the week before my last period. He came back and we had sex on the 22nd and every day since. As of today (the 25th), I started bleeding very very lightly, a light red color that turned to brown... barely noticeable and not enough to need a pad or tampon. My period is not due for another 8 days and I have not been on birth control for 3 months... is there any possibility I could be pregnant?

Pregnancy is always possible any time that you have sex. But, would you know it 3 days after sex? No. In fact, you're not even "officially" pregnant 3 days after sex.

Do you know how pregnancy works? How the egg is fertilized, implanted, etc etc?

Here's a great video you should watch.

I am aware of how it works. I was pregnant my freshmen year of college but miscarried. I'm just concerned what I'm experiencing is implantation bleeding... as it is very light, I ovulated around the time of intercourse (4 days ago) and my period is not due for another 8 days. I know it can take a few days for the egg to travel... but I've heard in some cases I has happened in a matter of days.

It's likely the discharge is due to the frequent and recent sex. Implantation takes several days to be complete... a few to travel to the uterus and a few to implant... sometimes a bit longer. Pregnancy will certainly be a possibility however. See what happens when you expect your period and test if necessary.

old question: (read first) The first day of my last period was march 2nd... and my cycle usually last about 31 days. Update: my period was due today (31 day cycle) I haven't missed my period in 2 years and I was relieved when I thought it had started this morning- I went pee and found a slight amount of brown discharge. I have slight cramping, but the discharge has stopped and now there is no flow at all. I even put a tampon in after finding it, expecting it to get heavier and still nothing... usually after a cramp I'll get a sudden rush of red blood... but nothing after these cramps. My breast have been sore for about 3 days now, my nipples are slightly tender, and I've been super tired. I've also been urinating frequently... I accidentally peed on my boyfriend when I coughed immediately after sex 2 days ago (so embarrassing) I've also been slightly emotional... but not as bad as my other normal periods... my boyfriend and I figured it was just my normal pms... but all I have had is the scanty brown discharge. I took a test, which came out negative (I was feeling cheap so opted for the dollar store brand). I am so confused so if anyone has any insight please respond!!

Pregnancy is still a possibility, but so is an off period. Happens to all of us.

Sadly this update does not change the advice already given. It can take some women months before they get a positive on a pregnancy test, even if they are in fact pregnant. Human error, a faulty test, a lot can go wrong.

Have you considered a more accurate blood test?

Hours later and still nothing... no discoloration at all. Still breast/nipple tenderness though. If I don't start a normal period within the next week I will probably have to schedule an appointment for a blood test to read my hcg...
