My furnace and AC doesn't seem to be running long enough to remove humidity and be efficient. Have a 1600 s.f. Ranch home with a full basement where the furnace is located. Is there an adjustment where it will run a minimum amount of time once its turns on? Thank you

humidity in the living space (http://phxheatpump.blogspot.com/2012/03/is-your-ac-giving-you-static.html)can be an issue with the blower speed (indoor fan motor). If it was adjusted for the furnace (and I am a a/c and heat pump guy so please furnace specialists chime in) than possibly the blower is operating too fast. The slower the blower speed the longer (in A/C mode) the air is in contact with the coil and thus more moisture is removed. The blower probably has three speed taps so just to get you going that would be a place to look.
This article is about static electricity and sounds a little about your situation in reverse.

Good luck

Hey thermalmedics. I agree, blower speeds could be the issue, or oversized a/c system which can actually add humidity to the home, making it feel "muggy".
I didn't realize you are a heat pump tech, and thank god you are on AMHD, as we have needed a true heat pump guy for awhile (and by "awhile" I mean as long as Ive been around here.) You will fill a big void with your heatpump knowledge. Thanks for sharing.
