I recently installed a Hunter 44905 programmable thermostat. I have an heat pump. The system worked fine for the first three days. I thought I was in the clear, so I mounted it, then it stopped working. I stripped the wires to make sure enough metal was exposed and the system worked for one day.
I shut off the power, reconnect the wires and the system worked again for about 30 minutes. It seems if reconnect everything that the system works temporarily. Any ideas what might be the problem?
I have the following wires/terminals connected:
Red to R (R)
Yellow to Y (Y1)
Green to G (G)
Orange to O (O)
White to E (W2)
Blue to C (C)
Black to nothing (E)
Brown to nothing (formed a loop between W2 and E2)
The letters in parentheses are the original systems terminal which was a non programmable thermostat
On my new system, the R terminal has a jumper, connecting RC and RH, the red wire is connected to RC.
Thanks for any replies, I appreciate your help.
