My two year old is biting my neices when they have food or just what ever he wants. I try giving him the same thing the have but it doesn't work. Just recently he bite both girls for no reason at all. Just to bite. What do I do. I have tried them biting him back but that is not working. I have also tried putting him in time out and popping his rear a little and telling him no. None of this is working and I'm at my breaking point. Please help.:(

He's two. It's a phase and he's trying out his power. Next week he may be spitting.

This page says it better than I could --

You need to be strict and you should put him in time out like you said but you have to be consistent everyime he does it you put him in timeout and look himl in the eyes and say no. Have him sit th ere until he can tell u what he did wrong. (If he can talk) do allow him to go play till he tells you. My mother did daycare and this worked really well. If they bite the girls it might work if you have them start fake crying when he does it (if they don't actually cry) discipline him and let him know that it is wrong to do. Never let the child win. If your going to do something you have to be strong and win the little "battle". Hope this helps... be strong!

Read that page I linked to. And please don't spank him or bite him back.

I read the article. I like the part about having a funny little game about things he likes to bite (at a calmer time when no one else is around). Favorite food, furniture, shoes, airplanes, fire engines, the sun, a space ship - make him laugh. Then get a little lecture in there, just one sentence.

I read the article and I didn't know biting him back would make him thinking biting was okay. I just get so irritated because he just keeps on and on. And my mother is the one who told me biting him back would teach him not to bite. I hope this works because I am just stressed out because he contuines to bite all the time

If you bite him back, then it becomes a game--who can bite the hardest. Sort of like spanking or hitting.

As I said, before you turn around twice, he'll be doing something else that irritates you. This is normal and shows he is pushing for independence and becoming his own person. Of course, you want to guide the way he does that. :)

I am a firm believer in a good swat to the rear and some time out. Spanking has worked wonders for 100s of years.
