I am also trying to conceive and have heard that the best time is during ovulation. There are many period tracker apps and such that help you to calculate your specific ovulation cycle. Hope this helps!:)

Hi Samantha1201,
You can only conceive when you ovulate, and you increase the odds of conception if the sperm are ready and waiting for when the egg is released. In the few days leading up to ovulation, women sometimes notice cervical mucus becomes more fluid and clear. This is the sort of mucus that allows the sperm to survive for a few days, otherwise they die off fairly quickly.
General guide is that you will ovulate about 12-16 days before the next period. This is only a starting place however as many women will not ovulate within the norm. The calendars that predict your ovulation often follow the average, which is fine if you do indeed happen to ovulate at that time. The majority of women, however, do not know exactly when they ovulate.
You can try watching for changes, track your period, and count the days to start with. It can be a good idea to start having frequent sex the week before you suspect ovulation and continue having sex right through to a few days after suspected ovulation. This will cover more days and give you better odds of good timing.
If you wanted, you could also look into trying ovulation predictor tests and temping/charting for a few months. Some women will start these if they have not had success after several months of trying. Some women use them from the start.
