Hi I am having pregnancy symptoms, but I'm not sure how I could be pregnant because we always use condoms. My last period was on the 28th of February, which was a little earlier than I expected as I usually start about the 7th of each month. My period was a lot lighter and shorter than usual but was more than just spotting. Now I am experiencing weird watery-white discharge leaking out especially when I get out of the shower and am very nauseous especially when I am in the car. Also, my breast are swollen and tender and I have been somewhat dizzy with a few headaches. Every time I try to eat I feel like I am going to throw up but I do not. I am wondering if I could be pregnant? I took a pregnancy test on the 10th and it was negative so I didn't know if I am not pregnant, or if it was too soon to test? I know condoms are pretty reliable but these symptoms are starting to make me wonder. Any suggesions?

Hi ceh11... welcome to AMHD,

As you know, no form of birth control will be 100% effective, so pregnancy will always be a possibility. With the possible symptoms, you could check to see if your gp would do a blood test. Most urine tests require that you wait until you miss a period, or at least be just a few days before. You could check with your doctor, or wait until you would expect your period for this month and test again at that time if no period shows.

While condoms are great and should be used ( along with a second method of birth control) they do have a very high failure rate, some place it at almost 10 percent. So of course even using condoms you can at times get pregnant.

As has been said... yes it is possibe you got pregnant... we have prominent members that got pregnant while using THREE forms of birth control correctly. One of them is a Nurse.

Unless you prepare for the possibility... then you don't have sex until you are ready for the possibility.

All forms of birth control have their downsides. I would not rule out pregnancy. Maybe take a hpt?
