Okay, it looks like moving the toilet is way beyond my diy skills right now. So I am back to the original plan of just moving the supply lines. Ripping the drywall off has revealed even more interesting things. The cold water pipe looks like that mousetrap game with more turns than a merry go round. The drain pipe for the sink also seems to go up to the ceiling and down to the floor. I read that toilets have those vents, but do all sinks have them too? Do they have to be straight?

I would like to move the water supply lines and the drain over about six inches to line up with new pedestal sink. One way to move the drain, would be to cut a section out and use t's and bends to move it over and then back up again. Would that work?

I would love to hire a plumber, but hadn't budgeted that in for the installation of a pedestal sink:eek: So, I am now stuck trying to figure this out on my own.

Every fixture that has a trap with the exception of floor drains MUST be vented. Vents relieve the suction in the system that's caused by draining water. If you didn't have vents the water seal would get sucked out of the traps and toilet bowl.

A better way would be to cut the stack, turn the tee and couple on to the stub and then bring it out of the wall. Good luck, Tom
