View Full Version : Can a USA citizen with a drug felony visit Canada?

my question is this, I am about to marry a USA citizen he was convicted 16 years ago on a cocain distruption charge he served 52 months on the charge and has had no other priors, I am a canadian would love to have my new husband live here with me... Can any one help please

I suggest he investigate having his record expunged, if his state allows it. Once he reaches the border and they start asking questions, it may be embarrassing for him to be held up or turned back.
Even if he had a prior conviction, did his time it was still a drug related felony, we can't say if he will be allowed into Canada.

I can. He won't be. That doesn't mean arrangements can't be made.. They CAN. But, it's going to involve a Canadian pardon, and probably won't be EASY. I'd hire a lawyer.

Hi in regards to my husband to be, he did enter canada and was here for three weeks, when he went to Ny which is closes border to us here, he went over seen a dr and got his drugs he needs , he went to come back and at the Ny Border they stopped him said he was not allowed in canada he is a felon, and told him to aplly for reabilation forms, which he is doing out now, they ask 200 canadian dollars and may ask for an aditaional 800 dollars, he has also got his finger print card and also got a hold of the FBI for his crimal record, just wanted to know do they ask for this money to all people and then refuse them what do you think his chances are to come to canada , there must be a way to do this to have my future husband with me here does any one know... please if you have an idea or know of someone that may be able to help us please let me know thanks

Well you could have told the whole story up front; why didn't you? Now my only suggestion is hire an immigration lawyer.
