In the state of California. What if I received a fine for minor in possession of alcohol (not under 18 but under 21 yrs old) I never went to court for it but a paid a fine of like $150. No fingerprints, no booking, no court. Will that show up on my federal background check?

How about a minor in possession of Pot (15 years old) Never fingerprinted, never booked, paid a fine and completed a 1 day drug diversion class. Will this show up on my federal background check?

Also what about a public intoxication. I spent 1 night in jail detox but never was fingerprinted , never went to court. Charges were dropped, (the cop made a mistake) Will this show up on my federal background check?

Thank You for your time

The only one of the three you went to court for was the pot charge? Was this done under juvenile procedures?

With respect to the other two, did you sign anything agreeing to the entry of a judgment of conviction?

Never went to court for the pot charge. Just received a letter in the mail stating that I had a 1 day drug diversion class to go to. I was 15 yrs old at the time and I am almost 32 now.

The MIP, I showed up to court because I had a court date but when I looked at court list for my name it wasn't on there. The lady at the front just said I have a fine of $150 or so.

For the Public Intoxication I spent a night in detox but was never fingerprinted and never signed anything. I received a court date in the mail and when I got there, I looked at the court list once again and my name wasn't on there. The lady up front said no charges were filed. You are free to go. With this though is this on my record because I was in jail for 1 night or was that just a detox kind of thing?

I guess my question what type of "Federal Back ground check" are you going to work for the FBI or is this just a NCIC check of your criminal record. An example, when I went to work for the Justice Dept, they complied a list of girls I had "dated" in college, had pick up lines I used, Had info on drinking I did when under age ( no police what so ever) They sent agents to talk to my old high school teachers, old college teachers and neighbors I had lived by going back almost 10 years. The packet was over 6 inches thick. Now remember I had never even gotten a parking ticket up to that point.

So first, if you pay a ticket, that is the same as going to court, you pay the ticket that is pleading guility to the charges, so those are convictions and may show up, if they were turned into the federal system, We have no idea , some are, some are not in other areas.

No, not for the FBI but it is a Single Scope. They want to know the last 10 years. The Pot charge was over 10 years ago and the MIP was right on the borderline. So you think the MIP might show up. What about the other 2? I'm not the kind of person that lies there's just so much gray area when it comes to these things.

I'm not the kind of person that lies there's just so much gray area when it comes to these things.Hello a:

Uhhhh, no there isn't.. If they ASKED you about your criminal past, you answer because it's the TRUTH, or you answer because of what they'll find out...

Looks to me, like you're opting for number #2. That's what I'D do too, but I wouldn't try to convince myself that I was telling the truth...

Again why is this being done, are you going to work for a government agency? Or for some other employment.

What or how is the question asked
Were you ever arrest? Where you ever convicted ?
Were you ever convicted in the last 10 years ?

You answer honestly, you will lose any job faster for lying than telling the truth, esp over smoking some pot

Government agency yes. They wanted the last 10 years. Haven't done any drugs in the last 10 years and the only crime that's been committed in the last 10 years was the public intoxication in which nothing came of it.
