So I tried filing my taxes with no income (student with loans only) but it was rejected because one of the lines must have a non-zero value. I've been told it is to my advantage to have a filed tax return to prove I made no income for the future. Can I just put in $1 for line 1 making my AGI of $1 so that it will not be rejected?

I have never heard of this. People file regular tax returns with 0 income all the time with no problems. What line on what form is it saying must be non-zero? Is it possible that you're using some kind of filing service that requires you to have nonzero income?
