I am currently hearing static out of the outlets in the wall of my home. Do I need to be concerned that there could be a fire hazard in the making?

Is it a crackling, hissing and/or poppping noise? Are these receptacles in use, something plugged into them?

I would stop using this circuit, flip off the breaker for the circuit and call an elecyrician to evaluate what going on. If it is just one receptacle you could pull it from the box and check the connection. If the wires are back stabbed rather than on screws try to remove and install on the two screws. Copper color gets the black hot and the white neutral wire goes to the silver screw

You could have Aluminum wiring to your receptacles that has loosened over time. When you hear this buzzing, do you see any light flickering behind the face plate?
I'm with Bob on this, call an electrician as this may be a sympton of something more pervasive.
