I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima. When traveling on the hi-way, it feels like the back end is ever so slightly moving from side to side. Some one told me to check the bushings in the lateral control arm. I know the rear struts need to be replaced, but I didn't think it would allow the car to move from side to side. It also has abnormal wear on the out side of the drivers side rear tire. All tires were purchased at the same time, and the rest of the tires are fine.

Multiple possibilities here... Struts (very likely the cause of swaying and the tire wear), bushings, alignment, and tires. Really, the place to start is with new struts, then after replacing them, you need an alignment anyway. During the alignment, they will check bushings for you. After the alignment, then you would want to get new tires.
