Me and my ex broke up a couple of months ago, since then we've been fine as mates and it's her birthday on Wednesday.
I don't know what to get her, people have told me not to get her anything but I feel I should. If I get her something expensive won't there be a chance she might read something into it? On the other hand if I buy her something cheap she might think I don't want to be of anything important to her either!
Please help.

Just get her something you know shell like, cheap or expensive. As a matter of fact, if you've heard her talk about anything she wants you should get her that, because then she might be impressed that you listen to what she says. If you haven't heard her mention anything, then find some discreet way to get it out of her. That's what id do.

So what did you end up getting her? Flowers and a card would have been a nice gesture as a remembrance of a birthday.
