My husband is considering in terminating his rights to his daughter. The mother will not let us see her. We haven't seen her since Christmas and we only got her a couple hours. The mother says since he owes child support, he is not allowed to have her. He is currently unemployed and the state is figuring that out, but she constantly says he owes and what not. The mother speaks badly about all of us and fills her head with numerous lies. He thinks right now in her best interest is to sign over his rights and when she is old enough, if she wants to contact him she can. We want to know what we would have to do.

No much of a father huh? Willing to give up his rights ( which he can't do anyway) and not fight for his child.

First who cares what the mom says, she is lying and wrong, being behind on support has nothing to do with his rights to visit. So he files in court to find her in contempt and force her to allow the visits.

Next when did he go back to court once he got unemployed to have his child support lowered because of his lack of income.

Why is he not willing to fight to see his kids.

But besides that, unless his ex is remarried and they want to adopt, he can't just sign over his rights anyway.
