View Full Version : Do you need a blower to use blown in insulation?

We have insulation in our attic, but want to buy 3 or 4 bags a months and break it apart and 'rake' it in the attic.

My questions is, do you need the blower or will my method work? We will keep in mind, that the insulation has to be 'fluffy' and not matted down.

Does the blown insulation in the bag contain a solid mass and the blower breaks it apart?

Blowing is much easier with a large, new installation. Adding just a few bags a rake will do fine. Keep it fluffy not packed. When you open the bag the insulation is compressed and will puff quickly. Smack it a few times with your rake and the bund;le will come apart quickly
