I've been trying to start screaming for deathcore recently and I keep on straining my vocal cords to where I can't talk for a couple hours. I've been gargling salt water and using my diaphram. I did 2 years of choir but that's about all the musical training I could afford. I don't have any friends in bands or that can scream either. I've been trying to do Knee Deep by Job For a Cowboy and Goodbye Graceful by Falling in Reverse... with virtually no lucky.

I'm sure someone else will give you an answer you'll like better, but mine is that you need to stop screaming. Not everyone's vocal chords can handle that, and for something that is truly a fad, I think it's unwise to risk your entire musical career. The band can find someone who can scream without damage, I'm sure.

First you need professional voice coaches if you are going to be a professional. But you start by building up to tones to volume and the such over time, It can take months of proper work to get your voice to the right place. Even then excess will do more damage than good.
