Nightmares occur an average of once per month for most people. Other studies have shown that a majority of all dreams feature negative content.

I suggest you start a dream journal. Every time you wake up, jot down what, if anything, you can remember about your dreams.

Unless you just recently converted to Christianity, I don't think the two are related.

First of all. Its just a dream, don't be worried. Second, in Bible dreams have been a source of warning or understanding God's will, there are multiple accounts in the bible of dreams/visions being of a prophetic nature giving the dreamer a glimpse into either the future or into God's plan. Some of these biblical dreams have been allegorical in nature like Joseph's dream of the planets revolving around him. Or direct ones where Joseph(Mary's husband) gets a dream telling him not to abandon Mary.

Mostly dreams are just the mind and our unconscious playing tricks on us, or revealing some psychological disturbance through an active imagination.

Just pray to God for peace and calm. And for your husband's safety.

Sylvia - I think you may be confusing the interpretations of Genesis 40:8 with interpretations of the new age movement.

Gen. 40:8 "And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God?"

Christianity does NOT hold to cookie cutter symbolism and dream interpretation. Dream can come under demonic influence, but being that this is only one instance for you, at this point all we can do is assume it was a regular dream. Sometimes dreams can be bad. As Indya put it, just seek God for peace and keep your husband under prayer. I do not believe this dream has any meaning behind it.

I disagree - all dreams come from the Lord God Almighty and sometimes the enemy can invade our dream life. The awesome news - you don't have to stand for it!

Yes, even dreams about something that happened yesterday! Nothing is by coincidence. As Believers in Jesus Christ, we have direct "portal" to heaven - . That being said, our "thoughts" can be intercepted by the enemy and speaking from experience, I know how scary those dreams can be. But take heart, we don't have to stand for them. Think of the enemy as a fly - he is! Remember the enemy will use fear to control you. Satan's only power is in the Lie he gets you to believe.

I am a mom and a teacher and attend a baptist church - a pretty average person. But in God's sovereignty He has allowed me to experience these "nightmares" and stand up to the enemy. I have come such a long way in even just admitting to the fact that this is an attack and I don't have to be afraid! Since then I have been taught by other Believers that our dreams are the language of God - parables. Moses and Aaron learned how to listen through spending time with the Lord. I strongly believe that he uses our dreams to communicate Truth to us. That comes with spending time in the presence of the Holy Spirit and learning to listen.

Adrian Beale and Adam Thompson came out with a book called Divinity Code to lay out this theology. I assure you it's not cooky or strange, I encourage you to purchase the book to help you understand dreams and even how the enemy can get involved. In the back there is a dream dictionary that is full of scripture. Dutch Sheets wrote a book called Dreams that just came out too.

I hope I can be helpful in this!

Do you have a history of having dreams and visions that come true, most likely not,

Almost all dreams are just that, dreams, they come from watching too much horror TV shows, eating too much fatty foods and more. I would say the majority if not almost all dreams mean nothing at all. It is taking the bible far out of context to believe that all dreams means something, ( except perhaps you should not be watching most of today's TV shows)

If this has a real meaning, then of course God would provide you the meaning, perhaps a stomach illness Perhaps a sign of a poor diet by him, almost never do they mean he is going to be stabbed. Unless again you are and have a history of real life visions.

I realize that you had this dream a while back so this response may not help much but I'll give it anyway. I'm a youth pastor and I do have some experience with dreams and interpretation. I've had both literal dreams (night visions) and symbolic dreams on many occasions. Sometimes it's difficult to tell the difference but we can approach them in a similar way. Always with prayer and intercession. There's no way for me to tell for sure the source of the dream. It could be an attack in which case prayer and rebuke will work. It could also be a warning which could be literal or symbolic. Without saying I have a word from God I would think the symbolic interpretation would be along the lines of someone betraying or taking advantage of your husband. Like getting "stabbed in the back". I suppose any kind of event like that has already happened or already been avoided but who knows. Again prayer is the answer.

But most likely it was just a dream. Dreams and visions happen... but not all the time. I would not teach people to read into things like this. But if it is bothering her that much, then yes, always seek God about it... interpretations belong to Him alone.

This dream is definitely from God and it is a warning, It is important to know where your husband is being stabbed. Being attacked by a knife refers to a verbal attack such as sharp tongue, gossip, being spoken against.
This is a warning dream. You need to prayer protection over your husband and study the bible to learn the biblical way to respond to verbal attacks.
You can also pray scripture over your husband, such as
Isa_54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
I pray this will help you.

Why is this dream definitely from God? There is no way you can no that from only the information given.

First, I did not see the title that stated that the stabbing was in the stomach. If we look at what happened to Jonah who was in the belly (stomach) of the great fish for 3 days, we see that stomach or belly represents a humbling experience. I do not see exactly how the lies will relate to humility. I am sure that you know the situation better than I do.

I understand hauntinghelper's question about the dream/vision and how I could know that it came from God. My only reply is that the Spirit in me confirmed that the dream was from God. If you disagree, then so be it. It is not my place to convince you that the dream is from God. It is for the Spirit in the dreamer to confirm or deny my interpretation. We all must rely on Holy Spirit both for determining that the dream is from God and that the interpretation is from God. Otherwise it is just our opinion.
