I bought a universal garage door remote control. Programmed it and everything worked fine for about 2-3 months. Slowly it started to become more finicky when trying to open the garage door with it until a couple weeks later it just stopped working all together. I have tried purchasing two other garage door openers both that should work for my model and year but when trying to program them I can never get the opener to recognize them. Any ideas on what I would need to fix/replace in order to have a remote work for opening my garage door again?

I will have to suggest you find a dealer for your GDO, and get a remote to match, and you can confirm any dip switch settings.
