Hi,
I'll make it brief.
My children are 9, their birth father left the country when they were a few months old. No contact since they were a year. No support of any type in 8 years. I am unable to get passports for family travel as I do not have his permission and frankly, I would like to change my children's names and revoke his rights. How does one go about this?
State- Texas

Thank you

This is an unusual situation, especially considering that you are looking to get a passport for your children.

You need to contact a family law attorney to find out how to proceed. I do know that TX is one of the few states that will revoke parental rights without a danger to the child or an adoption waiting in the wings, but I do not know if your situation qualifies.

You can get a passport. A judge can sign it. You must make a good faith effort to find the dad. Also you should try to get a default order for child support. Depending on what country he fled to they may still be able to collect.
