Hi,

I am an F1 student from India and came to US for my masters in August 2010. I stay in DC and did my internship in a local company for 3 months in summer 2011. For my summer internship my previous employer has sent me 1099 - MISC form with $0 Fed income tax withheld. I want to know which form to fill for this? Also, after my summer internship, I was hired by different company located in Virginia, as an intern and they sent me W2 (it has tax witholding). Before, my summer internship I had on-campus job so my university has sent me another copy of W2. I am literally confused about the forms that I have to fill. I think I have to file 1040NR-EZ form but not sure what other exemption forms I have to file. Is there a separate form for W2 and 1099-MISC? Please help me out.

Which box of 1099-MISC is filled? Each box means different things

You must file nonresident tax return and Form 8843. Normally 1099-misc income is reported on schedule C or C-EZ (Form 1040). If you do not have any expenses related to 1099-misc income, you may report it as "Other Income" and enter 1099-misc income. @MukatA what do you mean expenses related to 1099-Misc?

Box 7 is filled.

Like MukatA mentioned, you need to fill out 1040 Schedule C-EZ (simple version of Schedule C). Expenses are like business expenses, which you probably don't have any if you're just doing an internship.

You will not be able to use 1040NR-EZ; you need to use 1040NR instead. The amount from Schedule C-EZ will be entered on line 13 of 1040NR.
