I replaced the pvc p-trap (used to be cast iron and copper) underneath the concrete floor for the shower drain. Can I just put back the dirt and stones I removed on top of the PVC p-trap and pour concrete over without worrying about future damages to the PVC p-trap. Thanks

Yes, just cover the piping with gravel, etc, then make sure to wrap the pipe coming out of the floor so it is not in direct contact with the concrete (better to wrap it enough so that you have at least an inch all around the pipe to allow room for the shower strainer assembly). Then poor you crete and you should be all set. Main thing is not to pour the piping directly into concrete, so cover it with gravel and go.

I am curious about the abs to copper connection. What type of conversion fitting is that? Never seen one.

Thanks much. The copper to abs was bought at Home depot already connected together. I only had to soldered the copper pipe with the copper connector

Cheers

Before you back fill you should test your trap and solder joint. Add a cup or two of water to fill the trap. The level in the trap should not change after an hour.

What type of shower were you looking to install? You have options here. You can slope the concrete to a drain or you can dap out to a hot mop or simply install a ready made shower floor and encloser. What's your choice? Good luck. Tom
