Me: lol why did you suddenly bring that up now?
Guy: Cos it was a while ago so should still be awkward.
Me: What? [Confused because he said "should" and not "shouldn't"]
Guy: I'm saying it seems awkward, but it shouldn't be.
Me: We never really spoke anyway so why does it seem awkward?
Guy: Just does. If it doesn't for you then it's cool.
Me: It's fine seriously. It really doesn't matter anymore.

He's ignored me since. I don't know if it's because he's realised I have a boyfriend or not.

I think that he honestly just wanted to know if you were still angry with him. If he keeps talking/texting you, he might want to start over as friends, or maybe more. If he wants to be more than friends you should make it very clear that you have a boyfriend and you don't feel the same way. If he wants to be friends than great! I wouldn't over analyze this.
