Hello I have a couple of questions, first off I am building a bathroom in my basement. It is a new house only 2 years old there are two stubs in the basement. One is the small one which I am guessing is the toilet the other a large square hole filled in with rock. I am guessing this is for the tub. There is PVC coming up through both holes. I dug up the large one and found that the PVC goes right into a drain pipe and the pipe has a trap. My question is why is the trap not permanently connected to the main drain that goes back under ground you can grab the pipe and move it all around is it suppose to be like that or will I have to secure it some how to the main drain it is connected to when I am ready to install the tub? If so what is the best way to do that? Thanks for any help you can give

The trap isn't connected to the drain at all or is itust loose?

If the "P" trap has a nut and is just loose then snug it up. If it hasn't a nut position the trap and raiser and prime and glue it. Good luck, Tom

Yes the trap is connected to another drain but it is connected by a rubber o-ring looking thing. It won't just pull out of the drain but it does move around. Is it suppose to be connected like that or will I have to connect it a different way?
