Our GE refrigerator water line continues NOT to work even after a heater kit was installed by a professional. What should I do next? I read that some folks say that it is an insulation problem not a freezing water line. We had to phone GE customer relations many times to get them to pay for the part & labor & the problem is NOT fixed.

Call GE again, and demand that they fix the problem , especially if the refrigerator is still under warranty. I had similar a problem and after a tech came to fix the problem for a second time GE sent me a new refrigerator. Sometimes it is not only the heater kit, but the freezer doors could be defective(not enough insulation) Just be persistent.

GE has had a problem where there was a class action lawsuit about these refrigerators. The problem was that they did not use GE silicone caulk to seal the freezer doors against air leaks! I have picked up several of these units and taken the doors off the freezer and removed the inside liner from the door, dried the two pieces in the hot Florida sun, and then sealed the two pieces with GE Silicone caulk which made it like new again. You have to seal it around the outside edge and the ice door to make it work. All of the units are still working perfectly and I even have one in my house. They are very good units; it's just that GE wanted to cut corners and not use their own product to seal the doors, which cost about $5-6.00 a tube. Air will get into a pin hole and freeze in the door shorting out electrical wires and freezing water lines.
