Need some advise, I needed taping and texturing done on brand new sheet rock in a small room. Guy come over and says he can do this in the next day or so, and he does the room which is 12ft by 22ft taped textured with orange peel and a knockdown ceiling and painted! He is all done and wanted to get paid. I did not get a bid from him but my other bids are 500-700 $. His total bill is 2650.00, I wrote 2 checks and was advised to stop payment on those if possible. I was able to stop one $1350.00. I informed him the bank advised me of this because the bill seemed way high. I requested a detailed bill and he faxed me an Additional work Authorization form. The bills that I have say Paid in full! Any advise on how to handle this would be great! People are telling me I should ask for part of the money back that he already has! Please help

Money back probably won't happen but lesson learned-ALWAYS get pricing up front.
