Hi,

I am in India now, I was in US last year, I e-filed my tax returns and should get a refund and I have closed all the bank Accounts in the US, I want the Tax Refund routed to my Bank Account in India...

I have two Questions Regarding this..

1. Can the Tax refund routed to my indian bank account?
2. I have my friend in the US, I want to Route it to my friends account so that I can make arrangements to route it to India from his account, can I use my friends account number and routing number to get the tax refund direct deposited into his account?

Regards

1) No. Neither the IRs nor individual states will do a direct deposit to a foreign bank. To use direct deposit, you MUST have a U.S. bank account.

2) That will work ONLY IF your name is on the account. If not, the bank will likely REJECT the electronic funds transfer from the IRS.
