Please someone help :( I've been troubleshooting and trying to establish connections for like 5 hours unsuccessfully.
Here's the story... Sunday night I was online working. There was an update that kept trying to automatically restart my (laptop)computer, but I kept ignoring it because I was in the middle of something. Finally when I was finished I shut down the computer. Monday I turned it on and noticed that I couldn't connect to the internet. So I looked to my networking computers icon at the bottom and they are totally gone. Normally if I lose my connection there will be a red X between the computers, but I have never had them disappear.
We have a wireless home network and my computer is the "main" one that is set up with the netgear router. Everything else still works. I cannot even get my computer to acknowledge that there is anything available to connect to. I tried to run the netgear software and reinstall everything and completely reset up a home network, but I still cannot connect to it.
Please... Anyone?

Have you tried to use a cable to connect directly to the modem and router to see if you can brouse at all.

Also go to the device manager and see if the Wireless card is listed and there are no red X's or yellow !'s.

Have you tried to reinstall the drivers for the WiFi card on the system?
