I am trying to take off the glass globe. I am turning it counter clockwise but it just keeps turning and does not come off. Any suggestions.

Are there set screws in the collar that the globe sets into? Most decorative globes are held in place by set screws. Often loosening the screws unevenly will make the globe feel like it should screw in an out but you really just need to remove the set screws and lift the globe out.
Do make sure the electricity (breaker) is off.

No screws on this one but from what I recall , while standing below the fixture, you give it a sharp twist COUNTERCLOCKWISE with the palm of your hand.
