I purchased a used dryer the owner told me it is 5yrs old, the problem is it works but it takes half a day to dry a load. So its does eventually dry but it takes a looong time. I did swith out the cord to fit the outlet I already had, but that's it, I 'm not @ home right now so I don't have the model number.

Is this gas or electric. If gas is it natural gas or propane in your home?

So you already had a 220v outlet but it had the wrong receptical? Shut off the breaker and open the juction box. Turn the breaker back on and check to see you actually have 220v. I got a feeling you are only going to find a single 110 v leg.
