Hi, my name is Garett. I am new member here.So I would u to ask you help on this question.I'm confident that I will get something here from this forum. So guys help me out if you can. The question is this
" Why is it necessary to have the tail blade B on the helicopter that spins perpendicular to the spin of the main blade A? Explain your answer using numerical values and an impulse and momentum analysis. State all your assumptions clearly ". I have basic knowledge about impulse and momentum but I don't know how and where to start. So could you all help me out ? I will really appreciate for your service.Thanks.

Hi Garett,

The answer lies in Torque. There is the tendency of the main blades to cause the helicopter to rotate about its axis. The axis being where the main drive shaft connects to the motor. The tendency is also for the main body of the helicopter to turn in the opposite direction. What would be a good way to counter the torque created by the main blades? Think about what a propeller does on a aircraft. How could you make use of a small propeller.
