I work in North Dakota but reside in Michigan I get 50 dollars a day per dieam but I spend more than that on gas food and lodging. I heard that in North Dakota you are allowed up to 150 dollars a day in expences so that means I get another 100 dollars back on my taxes is this true and if so how to I go about filing

You can claim the difference between the acutal per diem and per diem paid by your employer as itemized deduction as employee business expenses. This deduction is subject to 2% AGI limit.

There may also be Alternative Minimum Tax implications with this deduction.
