The movie I am looking for starts with sending a robot back in time for some experiment in the desert, the problem is a family is there in an RV, something happens and a guy is brought through the portal. Only he is pulled into some war between these robot things like the original robot, and the humans. He finds a girl (wife from before time travel?) but she has some sort of virus. They wear these badges that toldem if they had the virus or not. I remember one of the soldiers gets mad and yells at him because he obviously had "relations" with the girl because his badge changed to showing he had the virus. (turned to a red light I think)

I remember the cover had a picture of the robot in the foreground but that's about it.
