Hi, I have a 3 month old.I stopped breastfeeding two weeks ago and started taking megaT GREEN TEA weightloss supplements one week after stopping. I am very regretful of my decision, can I start breastfeeding again, if so, how soon? Thanks in advance.

You might consider contacting your Ob-Gyn, and/or finding your local chapter of La Leche League. You can find a LLL organization near you by visiting www.llli.org, or www.lllusa.org. Good luck and congratulations to you!

Hi shauna,

Just saw this, so you likely have already contacted someone locally. If not, yes, you can start nursing again at this time. Many women will resume nursing once they have stopped for various reasons.

If you are looking for weight management while breastfeeding, keep in mind that that nursing itself tends to burn calories. This is why the recommendation of about 500 more calories per day is in place. Some women see more of a weight loss while nursing, which is a natural side effect, in the second half of the first year however.

You can certainly work towards that with good eating habits and regular exercise. Weight Watchers actually has a good program for nursing mothers that won't risk an impact on milk supply or any concern from dietary weight loss supplements.
