If a troll is 12 ft tall and has a guy drop a 52 kg club on his head from a height of 25 ft, how much energy will transfer to his head?

If the troll's head brings the club to a complete stop before it continues to the floor, how fast will the club be moving when it hits the floor?

Any help with the necessary equations is appreciated.

Thanks,

1. The kinetic energy when it hits his head is equal to the loss of potential energy from falling 25-12 = 13 feet. The potential energy is found from PE = mgh.

2. To find the velocity of an object dropped from height h, use

v_2^2 - v_1^2= 2gd

Here v_1=0 since it starts from rest, and d = 12 ft.
