I am 52 years old and have not had a period for 3 years. Just recently had vaginal spotting that lasted 2 weeks. Had a vaginal ultrasound that showed uterine polyps and/or fibroids. Dr. Wants to do an EMB asap. I have some abdomen pain, pain in lower back and the top of the back of my legs. Do I need to worried about cancer?

Probably not, but that is what your doctor wants to rule out. The polyps and/or fibroids will often cause irregular bleeding and discomfort. They are pretty common and usually more of an annoyance than a medical concern.

Your doctor may decide to take a wait and see approach, remove what may be seen during the exam, or suggest something like a D & C. There are several options depending on what is determined.

Are you on hormone replacement? If not, sometimes this may be used to try and take care of the problem.

Yes. I have been on hormone replacement for a year and a half now. I am also having problems with constipation.
