Hi betty1025,

Always best to check with your midwife or doctor about any medication use as they will know your medical history, which can determine an appropriate remedy.

For a slight fever, you might choose to skip the meds. You will find various opinions on the use of fever medications, but generally acetaminophen/paracetamol is considered the safest choice in pregnancy. As with any medication, you would want to use it only for occasional use unless your midwife or doctor suggested otherwise.

Saline drops are good for your congestion. Some women find sitting in a steamy bathroom, or using a humidifier helps. It is not uncommon for some pregnant women to feel more nasal congestion due to the swelling of the nasal passages. Many women will feel like they have a head cold through part of their pregnancy. It is annoying but not a health concern.

Drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day can help with both the fever and congestion.

Some people find hot drinks work well for sore throats, some prefer cold drinks. If you try either, avoid herbal drinks and caffeinated beverages. Regular decaffeinated tea would be an option for a hot drink for example. You can add a bit of lemon and/or honey as well if you like. When you add your own, you can determine the amount being used. The old stand-by of gargling with warm salt water is always suggested as well.
