Thank you so much for the help. And to my good friend Tom for helping me to ask you.
Thanks again. Very helpful.
We went to an Attorney but the attorney didn't draw up a will as we wanted but said there should be no problem with where the property goes but it should not therefore go to probate.
Why wouldn't he need a will? His son hates me so I see possible trouble without it.
The man has a bankrupsy and mortgage and now can't work with a life expectancy of 6 months..
I wanted who gets what as we, unless he recovers or last over 6 months with his aggressive lung cnncer. As he has a home that has a mortgage (upside-down), he says he will put my name on a quick claim deed and of course I'll have to make the payments and taxes, insurance, etc. and as soon as he does that he wants me to do the same leaving it to his daughter upon my death when I would like to leave it to my daughter she has no home and his daughter has a new husband and they have a home already.. The furnishings are already marked for his two grown children and relatives, and the two older cars not in good running shape to me.
The small insurance to be divided between the three of us and the funeral costs even though we would be still fairly newlyweds (him 70 and me 61)/ I have no income so funeral expenses and what if there are leftover medical bills? Would I be responsible for those on my own?
And doesn't there have to be a written will besides the Living Will?
The attorney says it is the only one he needs since he can set up the Life insurance division through the life insurance company itself ?
I'm scared of getting into a financial mess for a short period to be married if we get married next week. Thanks.
